How a quote is built

  1. Technical questionnaire. You describe what you intend to cast: the product range, the metal, part weights and the target output in tonnes per month. A drawing or a sample part is enough - from it our process engineer reads the geometry and the accuracy required.
  2. Process and configuration. The engineer decides which process pays off for your product range - lost foam casting or the V-process - and matches a configuration to the tonnage. This is also where the depth of processing is settled: whether machining, painting and assembly are needed or a raw casting is enough.
  3. Specification and quote. We build the equipment specification item by item, calculate delivery and customs clearance to your site and the lead time. You receive a quote with a final price, not a range.
  4. Contract, delivery and start-up. Once the quote is agreed, the contract is signed and the equipment is manufactured and shipped. On site we run supervised installation, train the staff and take the plant to its rated output - two to three months pass between delivery and production.

What drives the price

Output. The configurations are laid out by tonnage - from 10 to 200 tonnes a month. Extra capacity means extra monoblock flasks, a second and third melting furnace and more foam pattern machines, so the price rises with the tonnage rather than jumping.

Process. Lost foam casting (LFC) is the cheaper entry point: a minimum working set is one pattern machine and one monoblock flask. The V-process, or vacuum-film molding, needs a molding line and a vacuum station from day one, and repays that with accurate geometry and large castings.

Degree of mechanization. The same tonnage can be reached by hand molding or by an automatic line. Automated pouring and molding removes operator error and reduces injuries, but adds to the cost of the package.

Depth of processing. A raw casting and a finished part are different plants. Configurations with machining include milling, grinding and thread cutting, and cost noticeably more than a pure foundry.

Pattern shop. Simple patterns are cut on wire and milling machines for foam, while parts with complex geometry need the MT-400, MT-600 or MT-800 semi-automatic machines with our blowing unit - the number and size of those drive the price of the package.

Where the 8⁠-⁠12 month payback comes from

Foundries on this market normally pay back in three years or more. Our mini-plants are designed to return the investment in 8 to 12 months, and the reason is not marketing but three facts: a low entry price, compact equipment (which keeps rent and site preparation down) and a margin of $1 to $6 per kilogram of finished product against a production cost of about $1 per kilogram.

Scale up instead of overpaying

You do not have to start with a large plant. The equipment - monoblock flasks and pattern machines - is designed for smooth expansion: you take the base package, learn the production, and then double the output or more by adding flasks and furnaces, without rebuilding the shop. That lets you enter the casting business with the smallest sum and grow capacity as the order book grows.

The gap between $98,500 and $780,000 comes from four things: output (more tonnes a month means more flasks, furnaces and pattern machines), the process (lost foam, V-process or a combined plant), how mechanized and automated the plant is, and the depth of processing - whether machining, painting and quality control are part of the package. The final price always depends on the configuration and is fixed in a written quote.
