Lost foam mini-plant with an automatic molding line, 40-50 t/month

  • from $520,000 Price
  • 40-50 t/month Capacity
  • 372.3 kW Installed power
Automatic LGM moulding line with flasks on the shop floor
The automatic moulding line is the core of the 40-50 tonne configuration.

This lost foam mini-plant runs an automatic molding line and produces 40-50 tonnes of castings a month with minimal operator involvement: the line places the patterns, fills the flask with sand and compacts it.

It has a 500 kg induction furnace, ten 700x700x700 mm flasks and 372.3 kW of installed power, for $520,000.

What this configuration gives you

An automated molding cycle. The line takes over sand mold preparation completely, from placing the patterns to filling and compacting the sand. That removes dependence on manual labor, shortens the cycle and makes quality more consistent.

Larger heats. The 500 kg thyristor induction furnace delivers twice as much melt per cycle as the 250 kg furnace in the 30 t/month configuration.

Efficient cleaning. A tunnel shot blasting machine handles large batches of castings faster and better than a dead-end machine. Tumbling and heat treatment give the parts their finished appearance and properties.

Ready to extend. The plant integrates with CNC machining cells and paint lines, so the foundry becomes part of a finished-part operation.

Who it suits

  • Manufacturers with continuous batch orders.
  • Industrial sites running at high utilization.
  • Companies that grow output through automation rather than headcount.

How the plant works

  1. Make lost foam patterns on three semi-automatic machines
  2. Automatic molding: pattern placement, sand filling and compaction
  3. Pouring on a programmable system with minimal operator involvement
  4. Shot blasting and tumbling, then heat treatment
  5. Machining and painting of the parts

What the delivery includes

  • Process training: from raw material preparation and molding through to finishing, in theory and in practice.
  • Machine training: settings, operating modes and maintenance of the CNC and auxiliary equipment.
  • Staff training for process engineers, CNC operators, quality inspectors and foundry workers.
  • 12-month equipment warranty, including free repair of any faults.
  • Process support at start-up: inspection of every unit and set-up of the production flow.
  • Ramp-up to the rated output, with checks on casting and machining quality.
  • Handover to full autonomy: process instructions and contacts of vetted material suppliers.
  • Supervised installation: assembly, commissioning and a test run on your site.
  • Ongoing technical support after production starts.

Delivery is quoted separately depending on the destination.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the automatic molding line do?

The whole sand mold preparation cycle: placing the patterns, filling with sand and compacting it. The built-in compaction mechanizm keeps the molds uniform without the separate set-up a monoblock unit needs.

How does this differ from the 30 t/month lost foam plant?

An automatic molding line instead of monoblock units, a 500 kg furnace instead of 250 kg and a tunnel shot blasting machine instead of a dead-end one. The number of pattern machines stays at three.

How much power does the plant draw?

372.3 kW of installed power against 284.3 kW on the 30 t/month configuration, because of the larger melting furnace, the automatic molding line and the more powerful shot blasting machine.
