How the furnace is built
An induction melting furnace consists of a parallel thyristor frequency converter, the melting unit itself, a capacitor bank, a water-cooled cable, a remote tilt control panel, a tilting gearbox with an electric motor, and a cooling system. Operating frequency is 1,000 Hz, the power factor is at least 0.95, the duty cycle is 24 hours a day, 335 days a year, and the enclosure protection rating is at least IP54.
A simpler option: the resistance furnace
For small and medium foundries, Modern Technologies also supplies a resistance melting furnace from $9,000: a simple design that is easy to maintain, effective insulation to cut heat loss, and no emissions. The price includes supervised installation and commissioning, staff training (online or on-site) and custom engineering for non-standard parameters.
